Sindh Plans 300 EV Charging Stations Under Public-Private Partnership Initiative
Karachi: The Government of Sindh is moving forward with plans to establish a modern electric vehicle (EV) charging network across the province through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Under the proposed initiative, 300 EV charging stations will be installed at key urban centers and along major highways to provide reliable and accessible charging facilities for the growing number of electric vehicle users in Pakistan.
The Sindh Government has allocated PKR 750 million for the project, which will be implemented in collaboration with China’s ADM Group and Pakistan’s Malik Group of Companies. The initiative aims to introduce state-of-the-art fast charging infrastructure, strengthen the province’s EV ecosystem, and support Pakistan’s transition toward sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation.
According to the project plan, charging stations will be strategically located in major cities and on important transport corridors to ensure convenient charging access for both passenger and commercial electric vehicles. The project forms part of Sindh’s broader strategy to develop a comprehensive EV charging network capable of supporting the province’s rapidly expanding electric mobility sector.
Industry experts believe that expanding the EV charging infrastructure will enhance consumer confidence, encourage greater adoption of electric vehicles, and attract private sector investment in charging networks, local manufacturing, battery technology, and related industries. They also note that successful implementation of the project could position Sindh as one of Pakistan’s leading hubs for electric mobility and sustainable transportation infrastructure.
